Christine will lead the session: Equity by Design: Why design thinking is unable to ensure equity and how to fix it.  A summary of her session is below.

Humans are biased. When problems are defined and solutions are created by biased individuals, those biases persist. Design thinking, a powerful tool for problem solving and innovation, is lacking in its ability to adjust for bias and interrupt its persistence. We have designed a series of tools, checks and frameworks to enhance the traditional design thinking process to ensure the reduction of structural manifestations of implicit biases. Participants will engage in a complete equity by design cycle and help us improve on the tools we have created.
