Transcend’s team continues to grow with innovators who inform, design, and spread innovative learning environments. This month, we are pleased to introduce Rebecca Weinhold and Trevor Bynoe.
Rebecca joins Transcend leading operations to support early-stage school design work. She began her career in education working to support Operations at Harlem Children’s Zone and took the skills she learned there to support Leadership Prep Brownsville, a part of Uncommon Schools in Brooklyn, New York. After completing the Uncommon Schools Operations Fellowship, Rebecca was the founding Director of Operations and Co-Leader of Leadership Prep Canarsie also an Uncommon school. After seven years working in urban education Rebecca wanted to learn more about schools operating in rural areas and the challenges they face which led her to KIPP Gaston Pride High as the Director of School Operations. Most recently Rebecca was the Director of Operations at KIPP Academy Nashville. Rebecca graduated from The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with degrees in Music and History. When she is at home in Florida, she plays her bassoon with and serves on the board of the Melbourne Municipal Band. Rebecca makes sure to take time to travel as often as she can in order to ski, hike, camp, and read as many books as she can along the way.
Prior to joining Transcend, Trevor was the Director of Finance & Accounting at Achievement Network, where he oversaw all aspects of the organization's financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting. Earlier, he served as the Director of Finance for Hot Bread Kitchen, an innovative non-profit in East Harlem that prepared low-income minority women for professional bakery and food-service careers. His first exposure to working in public education came during his time as an Analyst with TNTP, where he worked with districts and schools to design new compensation and career pathway systems in order to increase recruitment and retention of high-performing teachers. Before making the transition to non-profit finance, Trevor spent eight years in a variety of corporate finance and accounting roles. He started his career as an auditor for Grant Thornton before moving on to M&A transaction advisory at Baker Tilly and then corporate financial planning and analysis for a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT). Trevor holds a BS in Business Administration and Masters of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives with his wife and three young daughters in Madison, WI.
